Digital Instructor Designation
The Digital Instructor Designation is Mercy’s Certification in Online Teaching. The Designation demonstrates having proficiency in multiple areas of online teaching and Blackboard.
The Full-time and adjunct faculty apply to participate in the Digital Instructor Training. When approved by Academic Unit Head and Dean they are provided a course shell and must demonstrate their mastery of BB100-300 Level courses. This normally requires 10 hours of training for those with only basic Blackboard experience.
Compensation:
Adjunct instructors who achieve Mercy College’s “Digital Instructor Designation” are eligible for an increase of $500 for each online course taught in the academic year following certification. In order to maintain the $500 increase, instructors will be required to complete 2 hours of additional Bb or QM training each Academic Year.
Full-time instructors don’t get a monetary compensation. Full-time and adjunct faculty members who successfully complete the Digital Instructor program described below will be awarded Mercy College’s designation as a Digital Instructor and displayed on the Mercy College Website. For Full-time Faculty, this designation may serve as a teaching recognition when preparing their Annual Summary Activity Report.
