DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (July 14, 2016) – The Mercy College women’s basketball team will travel to Division I United States Military Academy on Saturday, December 17 for a regular season game at Christl Arena in West Point, New York.

This year’s matchup will be the 15th all-time meeting between the two schools but, the two schools haven’t played each other in over 25 years.

“This will be a tremendous experience for our women’s staff and team. We are very appreciative of Coach Dave Magarity and his staff for giving us the opportunity to visit West Point and compete against the Cadets,” stated Mercy College Athletic Director Matt Kilcullen Jr.

Mercy College Head Basketball Coach Jim Harter said: "It will be a great opportunity for our team to play a program like Army. It is a big challenge any time you are playing up a level, and Coach Magarity has done an excellent job of building Army into one of the elite programs in the Patriot League. Traveling to West Point should be a tremendous experience for our team."

First-year head coach Jim Harter and the Mavericks return eight student-athletes from last year’s team and look to make a push for an ECC Tournament spot.

The Mavericks last played a regular season game against a Division I opponent on December 30, 2007 when they played at North Carolina Central University.

The United States Military Academy went an impressive 29-3 in 2015-16, making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Head Coach Dave Magarity and the Black Knights have rattled off four consecutive seasons of 20 or more wins.

Ticket information will be made available at a later date.
