B.S. EnglishDr. Helen Buhler is Professor and Program Director of the Graduate and Undergraduate Communication Disorders Program at Mercy College. Dr. Buhler has 40 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist. She teaches both and undergraduate and graduate courses and is a clinical supervisor of graduate students at the Mercy College Speech and Hearing Center. She earned the Teaching Excellence Award at Mercy College in September 2006.
Dr. Buhler is a research project mentor for over 44 graduate student research projects. She has been a Team Leader for student research team at Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Training Developmental Disabilities (LEND) at Westchester Medical’s Institute of Human Resources(WIHD). She is founder of the Speech Team for Healing the Children Northeast craniofacial cleft lip/palate team where she provides speech- language therapy services to children and their families and trains community outreach members. She has traveled on several missions to Peru, Bangkok, India and Columbia.
Prior to coming to Mercy Dr. Buhler worked in pediatric private practice for 23 years, was a speech language pathologist at Haldane Elementary School, Cold Spring, NY and Program Director at Suffolk Developmental Center in Melville, NY. Dr. Buhler. Dr. Buhler has presented over 40-45 state and national lectures and workshops on her research and various topics in pediatric speech language pathology.
