B.A. MathematicsProfessor Z Chen has published around 50 peer reviewed journal and conference papers. His recent research interest is centered at bot detection and identification and application of blockchain technology and analytics to identification and provenance. The PASS - Personal Archive Service System developed is such an application for personal credentials while the RealID developed is for more general ID for internet of things. He is also doing research on data exploration, data security and Information Assurance.
Dr. Chen is a professor in math and computer science at Mercy College. He is the director of the cyber education center since 2019 and was the Chair of the department of Math & CS at Mercy College from 2014-2019.
Before joining Mercy in 2003, he has worked for over six years at IBM T J Watson Research Center and IBM Pittsburgh Research Lab. His research was on Autonomic Computing, Network health Monitoring and transaction servers’ interoperability. Dr. Chen was appointed as an assistant professor in Shanghai Jiao Tong University from 1989 to 1992
Dr. Chen is certified as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and is leveled as a senior member both in the IEEE and ACM, the largest tech organizations in the US and in the world.
Dr. Chen holds a PhD in Mathematics and MS in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh, and MS and BS in Mathematics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His PhD dissertation is about Neuronal Modeling and his CS Master thesis is about Compiled Parallel Computing and MS Master thesis is on soliton systems.
