5. Proof of Financial Capability to cover living expenses presented in English: (Support letter, income verification, and bank statements dated after Sept 1 for the Spring Semester and after April 1 for the Fall semester)
6. Tentative Schedule of Classes  provides that list of classes offered at Mercy College. Use the Course Form to indicate the classes (6-8 classes) you want to take.  This form must be signed by  an official of the sending university office. The course list can be found at COURSE LIST
7. Transcript must be up to date and translated into English
8. Residence information about Plans for Living and Application form (review housing information  and download application, complete and email to studyabroad@mercy.edu)
9. Two letters or recommendation (Mercy College Interview Form to be completed by Advisor plus one letter from Office of International Programs or Study Abroad Office)
10. Proof of Insurance (optional but strongly recommended)
11. Immunization Records (MMR & Meningitis)
12. Copy of school picture ID at home institution
13. Copy of Passport page that includes picture (must be valid for 6 months past period of intended stay at Mercy)

Please review the following material before completing the forms:

• Mercy College incoming study abroad students will need an F-1 visa and will be receiving an I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant F-1Student Status). They are not eligible and should not apply for the J1 visa. Please keep this in mind when making the visa appointment.
• Financial documents submitted as part of the I-20 application package should be no more than 3 months old (dated in April or later for Fall students or September or later for Spring students)
• All students must be registered full-time (at least 12 credits in the classroom. No online classes are permitted).
• The average student takes 15 credits ( 5 classes) and 15 credits is the standard course load for exchange students as well.
• Exchange students are only permitted to register for undergraduate courses level 400 and below.
• Students must live on campus. Please pay close attention to housing deadlines and requirements for the housing application. That information will be communicated upon acceptance. Any requests for exceptions to on-campus housing must be communicated in advance to International Student Services at studyabroad@mercy.edu.
• Exchange students do not qualify for internships and are not permitted to work off campus while studying at Mercy College. Students can however work on campus for up to 20 hours per week.
• Students can enter the U.S. no more than 30 days before semester starts.  Students have a 60 day grace period after semester ends (but cannot remain in the residence hall during the grace period).  Students should avoid booking flights until they have their visas, and should be mindful of the residence hall opening and closing dates and deadlines.  
• While in the U.S., if students want to visit other countries outside the U.S., they must check the visa entry requirements of that particular country beforehand and must make sure they obtain a travel signature from the International Student Services Office.
• Once the exchange program is completed, students can request official transcripts to be sent to their home institution by emailing registrar@mercy.edu

All courses are conducted in English.  We request non-native speakers have a minimum score of:

• 6 on the IELTS test
• 71 on the TOEFL IBT (Internet Based Test) or 
• 197 on the TOEFL Computer Based Test or
• 527 on the Paper Based Test

The International Student Office registers all visiting students for courses.  

• Course listings for the fall semester are available by mid-March.  The deadline to submit fall course selections is April 15.  
• Course listings for the spring semester are available by mid-October.  The deadline to submit spring course selections is November 1.

Exchange students cannot register for more than 4 courses.
