Mercy College has been invited to be a host institution for the Open World (OW) Leadership Program, an international professional exchange program that brings small delegations of emerging leaders to the U.S. to learn about U.S. government and society. This year, Mercy College will be hosting five young university faculty and administrators (ages 26-38) from Kosovo to observe the American higher education system – and the college is looking for host families.

The visit begins with an orientation in Washington, D.C., followed by a professional development program at Mercy College. Programs address the theme of best practices in higher education systems in the U.S., particularly funding mechanisms, institutionalized cooperation between public universities, minority student integration, and procedures for faculty promotion—all important components of the current higher education debate.

As part of this program, participants will be staying with local families in the area from October 13-21, 2017. For the delegates, immersion into a host’s home and family life for a week is an authentic way to experience the culture.

If you are interested in hosting a visitor please contact Mercy College Center for Global Engagement Dr. Sheila Gersh at or (914) 674-7339. All visitors speak English.
