Dear Mercy family,

As many of you have learned, President Trump signed an executive order Friday evening affecting immigration to the United States from seven Muslim-majority countries.  Specifics of the order have been challenged in federal court and its future remains uncertain.  In this environment, Mercy College has been and will remain an institution devoted to helping immigrants and refugees build a future for themselves and their families in this country, without regard to their specific countries of origin or the religious beliefs they hold or do not hold.   If members of the Mercy family have been specifically affected by the recent executive order, I hope you will feel free to contact Kevin Joyce (, in the case of students, or Anne Gilmartin (, in the case of faculty or staff.  The college is anxious to provide such assistance as is possible and to assure all our students, faculty, and staff of a welcoming environment, notwithstanding what may be happening in the larger society of which we are a part.
