B.A. HistoryDr. Eric Martone is Interim Dean of the School of Education and Associate Professor of History/Social Studies Education at Mercy College, where he began teaching in 2011. He was previously Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of the School of Education and Chair of the Department of Secondary Education. He was born in Nuremberg, Germany and raised in Danbury, Connecticut. Before joining the core faculty at Mercy College, he was a secondary school social studies teacher for eight years in Waterbury, Connecticut. In recognition of his teaching excellence, he received the 2011 John Rogers Memorial Award from the Connecticut Education Association and in 2013 was acknowledged as a “Teacher of Honor” by Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education. He has published widely, with over 150 diverse publications on nineteenth- and twentieth-century European, Atlantic, and global history; and articles on teaching methods.
