Dr. Simons is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Affiliate Faculty Member in the Center for STEM Education. He teaches Human Development, Assessment in Counseling, Multicultural Counseling, Group Practicum, Directed Research, and Counseling Children and Adolescents. He has expertise in online education, field data collections, and mixed research. Dr. Simons is an openly gay member of the Mercy College Safe Zone community. He demonstrates a commitment to Mercy, the local community, and the state of New York. Students who are interested in research and teaching: Dr. Simons is interested in motivational interviewing, school counseling, LGBT topics, and STEM. He is committed to bringing about positive change to underserved populations locally and throughout the world. He enjoys exercise, travel, and time with family.
